What will you experience?

Our focus is to show you the vibrant Malawian culture, the wildlife, and - of course - the landscapes that make it unique on the African continent.

1) Malawi's South: Mountains, Tea plantations and cultural immersion

We’re kicking it off in the south of the country, in a town called Mulanje close to the border with Mozambique. This area is special because it boasts a much higher elevation than elsewhere, and offers spectacular views with Mulanje Mountain standing tall above the many tea fields that employ many of those who live here. You will take a trip to a small village to see their every day life, and even get to witness how local celebrations take place!

— Visit the Mulanje Tea fields & meet the workers

— Visit small communities in the interior

— Be part of festivities of the local dancing group

2) See African wildlife surrounded by Baobab trees

The best place for wildlife encounters in all of Malawi: Liwonde National Park. It is mostly known for the sightings of elephants crossing or feeding on plants of the Shire River, a big plus is the vegetation in this area: Baobabs galore! These gigantic trees dot the scenery, and make for a true National Geographic moment.

— Experience an African safari for a chance to spot African wildlife

— Boat safari along the lush Shire River

 Road-trip north through stunning landscapes

3) Stay on your private island on Lake Malawi

You haven't been to Malawi unless you've been IN Lake Malawi. This fresh, and crystal clear lake gives the country the name, and you will get to spend time on your private island as a group - consider it your playground. Multiple activities are included, like Kayak rental and a sunset cruise to make the most out of the last days of your adventure.

Sleep in bungalows overlooking the blue waters of Lake Malawi

— Hiking trails to explore the island and its hidden beaches

— Sunset boat ride and complimentary kayak rental

3) Finish off in Malawi's capital: Lilongwe

A cultural tour of the capital awaits you to make some last memories on the trip, or depart back to Blantyre if that suits your flight plan better. For which flights to book, I have created a flight segment if you scroll down on this page :)

... and that's a wrap on your week in Malawi! We will take you to the airport, time to say goodbye to your new friendships, and return richer in experience.

Why choose Destination Chaser?

Bringing the world closer, one adventure at a time! At Destination Chaser we combine unforgettable adventures for the traveler, with giving back to the communities that we are fortunate enough to be hosted by. We focus on:

Ecotourism: through sustainable practices revolving around culture and nature, to help make it financially sustainable to preserve the two for communities.

Supporting small local businesses: our trips are always comprised of locals putting their passion to work, and us supporting part of their dream through our visit.

Dispersing tourism: over-tourism has become a problem in many places, and we believe if people simply traveled more to lesser visited places (what we focus on!) everyone would benefit: more opportunities where they normally lack tourism, travelers getting better experiences off the beaten path, and not adding to the crowds of over-popular places.

Bringing the world closer: We believe that over time, if more people traveled to places and interacted with cultures that are oftentimes misunderstood or misrepresented, the world would become a more peaceful place. We want you to go on a trip others would not consider, and spread the word about the beauty of people and places - and open more minds to how similar we are as humans.

Thank you for being part of this movement!

What flights should I look for?

Arrival: Flying into Blantyre intl. Airport (airport code: BLZ).

Start: morning July 8th, 2024 - into Blantyre. We start our plans in the early afternoon, so we recommend you arrive in the early hours of June 1st, or before that, to leave a buffer.

    Departure: Flying out of either:

    - Lilongwe (LLW) anytime on the last day of the adventure.

    - Blantyre (BLZ) +60$. At 9:20am or later, on the last day of the adventure.

Ethiopian Airlines has the largest airline operation on the continent, and from my experience flying with it about a hundred times, it is very reliable and provides good service, also in & out of Malawi.

    - Zanzibar (ZNZ): If you're joining the Zanzibar extension, your departure should be at 5 pm or later.

If flight schedules should not align, and you want help arranging an extra hotel night and airport transfer on different dates - just let me know, we're happy to help :)

      How does the payment work?

To secure your spot, you can pay a deposit by credit or debit card of 20% of the trip price, which is non-refundable, as it is to secure services on ground that have their own cancellation policies and are funds we do not keep - but we will always try out best to refund whatever possible, as we understand sometimes plans can change and things happen!

3 months before the start of the trip we will send you another payment link for 40%, and for the remainder, we will send another payment link two months in advance - this is so you have more flexibility with covering the cost and don't need to pay everything at once. Let us know if you need a payment plan, we are happy to help!

BONUS: if you have a points program you can collect points from our trips as we are under the “travel” category!

Other payment options such as PayPal, or bank transfer, are available too if you prefer.
