What will you experience?

This Group Adventure is curated by Andi to include a mixture of cultural immersion around one of the largest festivals in Bhutan, homestays with local cuisine, and connecting with likeminded human beings – all in a country that has been cut off from the outside world for the longest time on record. This, is Bhutan – and Nepal will be the gateway.

Our focus is to show you both the best of these two unique countries. Through mountainous sights, temples and even experiencing a local festival, you'll create new memories of this adventure with your new travel family.

We also want to make the most of Bhutan's new Tourism Policy. This was known as one of the most expensive countries because of the high daily fee tourists had to pay. That is until recently! The fee has gone down significantly, and it has never been this easy to visit Bhutan before.

1) Kathmandu Valley

We're starting this adventure by meeting up in the capital of Nepal, Kathmandu. This will give you Destination Chasers a chance to get used to the altitude, the time change, and explore the incredible temples this city has to offer.

2) Paro - Your First Glimpse of Bhutan

After spending two days in Kathmandu, we'll fly to Paro. This is where we'll get a chance to visit the National Museum and the Fortress of Heaped Jewels. Afterwards, we'll drive out to Thimphu. On our way there, we'll visit local sights and even visit a weaving center to get a better understanding of what the local culture is like!

My personal highlight of the scenery, is in the Punakha Valley, where we'll visit the Punakha Dzong - a stunning fortress next to the river, and during this season, it wil be surrounded by blooming flowers and lush mountain backdrops.

— Wander through a local fortress

— Visit a Bhutanese weaving center

 Road-trip through stunning landscapes

3) It's time for the festivities!

We have chosen Bhutan during this specific time of the year for a reason: The Paro Tschechu cultural Buddhist Festival! We'll get to watch the festival from a beautifully decorated, colorful courtyard, observe the traditional dances and learn from our local guide which beliefs surround them.

Besides, we'll also take part in multiple other culture-focused experiences.

— Visiting a nunnery

— Spending time in the Centenary Farmers Market

— Watching congregations of Buddhist dances & traditons

3) From Modern to Ancient - time in the old capital of Bhutan

This will be the best day for us to view the snowcapped Himalayas, the highest mountain range in the world. We'll be making our way through beautiful roads and sights that can only be found in this part of the world. This will also include visits to Dzongs - local fortresses that are scattered across the country.

Then on our last full day in Bhutan, there will be a bit of exercise involved. a 3-hour hike uphill that leads to the most important cultural icon of Bhutan. This is one you might have seen before. Perched on the side of the cliff, is a stunning monastery referred to as Tiger's Nest.

But not to worry! Not only is the hike down easier, but after you finish you'll be rewarded afterwards with a traditional hot stone bath for all your hard work! After After freshening up, it's time to learn how to play a traditional game of archery!

... and that's a wrap on your time in Bhutan! The following day, we'll drive to the airport, where you'll take a flight back to Nepal. In Kathmandu, you'll stay overnight, and then it will be time to say goodbye to your new friendships, and return richer in experience and memories!

For which flights to book, I have created a flight segment if you scroll down on this page :)

Why choose Destination Chaser?

Bringing the world closer, one adventure at a time! At Destination Chaser we combine unforgettable adventures for the traveler, with giving back to the communities that we are fortunate enough to be hosted by. We focus on:

Ecotourism: through sustainable practices revolving around culture and nature, to help make it financially sustainable to preserve the two for communities.

Supporting small local businesses: our trips are always comprised of locals putting their passion to work, and us supporting part of their dream through our visit.

Dispersing tourism: over-tourism has become a problem in many places, and we believe if people simply traveled more to lesser visited places (what we focus on!) everyone would benefit: more opportunities where they normally lack tourism, travelers getting better experiences off the beaten path, and not adding to the crowds of over-popular places.

Bringing the world closer: We believe that over time, if more people traveled to places and interacted with cultures that are oftentimes misunderstood or misrepresented, the world would become a more peaceful place. We want you to go on a trip others would not consider, and spread the word about the beauty of people and places - and open more minds to how similar we are as humans.

Thank you for being part of this movement!
