Join me in Egypt! October & November 2021

Egypt

It was the Summer of 2015 when I got to experience what traveling to Egypt means for the first time. It was like experiencing a different planet. The culture, the people, the grandeur of the pyramids, the history, the vastness of the Sahara…

Now, this will be my 4th time back in this country, but this time I'm taking you along to show you the best places the country has to offer, create an immersive, authentic experience, and have the trip of a lifetime. Let's bring the world closer.

 Here’ what you can choose:

Egypt trip options!

My focus for these group trips is ...

  • creating authentic connections & lasting friendships
  • visiting the most beautiful and interesting places, while having an immersive, unique experience
  • take professional photos of you as a memory (like the ones you see on my Instagram)
  • meeting locals
  • and especially creating an unforgettable, once in a lifetime ADVENTURE!

10 day option: North to South exploration + sailing expedition (-10% sale ends this week)

Besides from experiencing all the highlights on land (see overview of places and activities above), we will be traveling on a traditional sailboat for 5 days / 4 nights on the River Nile (out of 10 days total). The boat has beautiful and comfortable interior, all the amenities, without the sound of an engine and only the peace of the sails, with a professional team taking care of us.

What's that like? Watching the palm trees and the rural side of Egypt pass by, falling asleep to the moon on the clear night sky and waking up to the soft sound of the wind in the sails, then exploring the “new land”, and off the beaten path places during the day. It has to be one of my all time favourite experiences in the past 6 years of travel. Which says a lot!

Review by Yuliana

Q: Do we need any sailing experience for this?

A: We will have a whole professional team taking care of that - you just need to show up! No experience required whatsoever.

Q: Will we be able to shower and use toilets when on the boat?

A: Yes, the boat is equipped with all the amenities needed! However we should use water rather sparingly - 40-minute showers should be skipped on this part of the trip ;)

Q: Are there crocodiles in the Nile?

A: Since the high damn was built, there have been no more crocodiles on the side of the Nile we will be sailing on, so don’t worry!

Q: Is it possible to swim in the Nile?

A: The water is cleaner than ever as large cruises are not operating right now (which makes it all the more peaceful and special!), so by cleanliness standards yes, but because of strong currents preferably not. However we might stop at parts where it is possible to swim if you wish :)

Q: Will we be on the boat all of the 5 days / 4 nights?

A: While a good part will consist of sailing, we will go on land multiple times to visit local villages, and historical temples (some of which are located on islands and can only be reached by boat), so it will be a good mix!

Q: For what dates should I look for flights, and what airport?

A: the Intl. airport you will be flying in & out of is Cairo (CAI). For the 10 day option, you can arrive anytime on the 27th of October. For your departure from the South of Egypt on the 5th in the afternoon, you can book a flight directly from Aswan Airport (ASW), back to Cairo (CAI), and then take a homebound flight from there CAI. It is generally best if you book those flights together on one ticket.

- To simplify, your flight search for the simple 10 day can look like this:

Your home airport - Cairo Intl. airport (arrival Oct. 27th)

Aswan airport (- layover in Cairo intl.) - Your home airport (departure in Aswan afternoon Nov. 5th)

If you are doing the 10 days, plus the 3-day Oasis adventure addition (Oct 24-26), keep in mind that we start very early on the 24th to head to the desert, so you will want to either arrive the day before (Oct 23rd), and spend the night to rest in Cairo (early transfer from the airport, plus accommodation for the extra night is on me!).

- To simplify, your flight search for the 10 day + 3 day option can look like this:

Your home airport - Cairo Intl. airport (arrival Oct. 23rd)

Aswan airport (- layover in Cairo intl.) - Your home airport (departure in Aswan afternoon of Nov. 5th)

7 day land exploration - north to south

The more efficient, shorter option if you truly want to experience Egypt’s highlights, but have little time - I got you. We will experience the best of what the country has to offer by land, and travel from North to South just as well, starting in Cairo, visiting the infamous Pyramids, exploring the culture, towns, meeting the people, go on Andi style adventures (or what do you call it?), and learn about the country as we travel all the way south.

Q: For what dates should I look for flights, and what airport for this option?

A: Cairo Intl. airport (CAI) should be your airport of choice for arrival & departure to / from your home airport. For the 7 day option, you can arrive anytime on the 17th of October. For your departure from the South of Egypt on the 23rd in the afternoon, you can book a flight directly from Aswan Airport (ASW), back to Cairo (CAI), and then take a homebound flight from Cairo intl. airport. It is generally best if you book those flights together on one ticket.

- To simplify, your flight search for the simple 7 day can look like this:

Your home airport - Cairo Intl. airport (arrival Oct. 17th)

Aswan airport (- layover in Cairo intl.) - Your home airport (departure in Aswan afternoon Oct. 23rd)

If you are doing the 7 days, plus the 3-day Oasis adventure addition (Oct 24-26), keep in mind that we end very late on the 26th (perhaps around 9pm), so you might want to book a flight the next day (Oct. 27th), to spend the night in Cairo and rest, also to add a safety pillow between our long drive from the desert back to Cairo and your international flight.

- To simplify, your flight search for the 7 day + 3 day option can look like this:

Your home airport - Cairo Intl. airport (arrival Oct. 17th)

Cairo Intl. airport - Your home airport (departure Oct. 27th)

Optional: 3 day Oasis & desert adventure

A fairly unchartered and hard to get to part of Egypt - deep in the desert to explore old settlements around a real Oasis, including turquoise clear salt pools that you can swim in, and will float on the surface because of the high salt percentage! Beware that it will involve long hours of travel, but they journey will be well worth it!

 Oasis option!

Q: Will we have showers and amenities when we are in the middle of the desert?

A: Yes, but the water pressure might be a bit lower than what you are used to!

Q: What’s included, and what’s not included?

Included Not included
Pickup from the airport to our accommodation in Cairo
Flight to & from Egypt
Professional tour guides to explain history Visa to enter Egypt (usually US$25 to be paid on arrival at airport)
